The Rio Art Residency, a week-long artists’ residency in Rio de Janeiro in June 2024, was the first official event of the Selkie Collection. It brought together 19 established and emerging contemporary artists from Brazil, the United States, Argentina, Colombia, Turkey and the Dominican Republic.
All creations from the residency will feature in a limited edition drop in partnership with Transient Labs and 452b, on July 18th. The Base drop will use Transient’s ERC-7160 token standard, allowing all creations to be featured in the same token.

Transient Labs x 452b x Rio Art Residency
Later in July, 19 artworks created during the Rio Art Residency will feature in a Limited Edition Transient Labs x 452b x Rio Art Residency drop.
Using Transient Labs’ ERC-7160 token standard, each token will feature 19 creations by the 19 Rio Art Residency artists.
Every collector who buys one token, will be collecting a gallery with 19 pieces of art. This is the first time Transient’s ERC-7160 technology has been deployed in this way, making web3 history.
The drop will have an allowlist mint window and a subsequent public mint period that will stay open for a limited period of time.

The Selkie Collection is a physical and digital art collection that ​​includes creations from successful projects such as Roger Dickerman’s 24 Hours of Art and established artists in the digital art space such as Efdot, XCOPY, Rebecca Rose, Bryan Brinkman, Parin Heidari, Jimena Buena Vida, OONA, Eka Lestienne, Fran Rodriguez, Maya Man, Harto, Pindar Van Arman, Alimo, Die with the most likes, Foodmasku, Roope Rainisto, Trevor Jones, and Gabe Weis to name but a few.
It also includes pieces from emerging artists who are full of promise: Alyssa Stevens, Cameron Smith, mizzy, Aqueous, growth revolution, Y El Ojo Qué Mira, Luko, Sophia Kühn, Tat Rosso, Sarkis, SirenAI, Edub and Carlos Aquino.
The collection was curated by Selkie, with the intention to create a movement to invest in and uplift new artists. Its aim is to allow artists to fulfil their full potential by giving them the tools and knowledge to build and grow their brand in the digital art space, as well as to invest in female/non-binary/queer artists, and the dissemination of digital art to more traditional spaces.
